People sharing an evening together at a founder homebase

Application-only founder coliving in Sri Lanka

For founders who want it all, without doing it all alone.

Work Beach Balance is for location-independent founders who want private rooms, reliable work setups and peers at a similar stage.

You do not just book a room. You apply to join a curated house where the same people live, work and build together for at least one month.

We read every application. No payment until there is a fit.

Founder freedom can feel lonely without the right circle.

You did it. You built a life where you can work from anywhere.

Wake up by the ocean. Build what you believe in. Live a life you chose.

But beautiful places can still feel lonely when nobody understands what you are building.

Another meetup. Five new contacts. Still no one you would call when your mind or business gets messy.

You finally meet someone you click with. The next week, they fly to Bali.

The magic happens when the right people come together and stay long enough.

We create homebases with a real family feeling through a minimum stay of at least 1 month.

I had everything I ever dreamed about, but felt lonely af.

I built Work Beach Balance because I wanted it too. I had the freedom to live and work from beautiful places, but I missed meaningful connections: people who shared the same ambition, understood the pressure of building and stayed long enough to become part of real life.

Founder coliving, visas and arrival

Questions to answer before you choose a homebase.

Clear answers about the WBB experience and the practical steps for living and working from Sri Lanka.

The WBB experience

What is founder coliving in Sri Lanka?

Founder coliving combines a private place to live, a work-ready environment and a small community of entrepreneurs who stay long enough to know one another. At Work Beach Balance, every resident applies and is matched by founder stage, timing, budget and house rhythm.

Who is Work Beach Balance for?

WBB is for location-independent founders, solopreneurs, freelancers, agency owners and independent builders who own their income, take their work seriously and can stay for at least one month. It is a focused homebase, not a party hostel or a two-week retreat.

How does the founder matching process work?

You complete a short application about what you are building, your dates, budget and preferred living rhythm. We review the fit personally, arrange a short call when helpful and match you with the most suitable house. There is no payment at the application stage, and we aim to reply within 48 hours.

How long can I stay at a WBB homebase?

The minimum stay is one month because continuity is central to the experience. Rooms are booked monthly, and longer stays depend on your dates, the season and current availability.

What is included in a Work Beach Balance stay?

Every current homebase offers a private room, a desk and chair, WiFi and shared spaces for living and working. Amenities differ by house and room, so the room page shows the exact setup, bathroom type, air conditioning, monthly rate and availability before you decide.

How much does coliving in Sri Lanka cost with WBB?

Current WBB room listings start at $559 per month in the Jungle Homebase and $1,000 per month in the Beach Homebase. The exact rate depends on the room and length of stay, and you can review it before applying or paying.

Sri Lanka visas and arrival

Do I need a visa or ETA to travel to Sri Lanka?

Usually, yes. As of 27 July 2026, Sri Lanka's official notice says foreign visitors should obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization before arrival. Nationals of 40 listed countries can currently receive a free 30-day tourist ETA; other nationalities remain subject to the general ETA rules and fees. Your passport and purpose of travel still determine the correct route.

Official 2026 ETA notice
How long is Sri Lanka's tourist ETA valid, and can I extend it?

The official ETA guidance currently states that a tourist ETA allows a stay of up to 30 days from arrival and may be extended for up to six months. The free 30-day scheme permits double entry within its validity period. Because a calendar-month booking can exceed 30 days, check your exact arrival and departure dates. Extensions are not automatic, and the required documents and fees can depend on your nationality and circumstances.

Official ETA application guidance
Does Sri Lanka offer a digital nomad visa for remote workers?

Yes. Sri Lanka currently publishes a one-year Digital Nomad Visa for foreign remote employees, freelancers and owners of businesses that are not registered in Sri Lanka and serve clients outside the country. The published criteria include being at least 18, remitting at least USD 2,000 per month for the main applicant, holding international health insurance and providing police and medical clearances. The published fee is USD 500 per year for the main applicant and USD 500 for each spouse or dependent. Local employment is not permitted under this visa.

Official Digital Nomad Visa requirements
Which Sri Lanka visa is right for my remote-work stay?

That depends on your nationality, stay length and the exact nature of your work. A tourist ETA is a short-visit authorization, while Sri Lanka's Digital Nomad Visa is specifically designed for eligible foreign remote workers serving clients or companies outside Sri Lanka. Tell us your passport, dates and work situation, and we will help you check the current official route instead of guessing.

Official Sri Lanka visa conditions
What documents should I prepare before flying to Sri Lanka?

For an ETA arrival, the official guidance asks for a passport valid for at least six months from your arrival date, a confirmed return or onward ticket and sufficient funds for your stay. Keep a copy of your ETA approval with you. A Digital Nomad Visa has additional document, insurance, income and clearance requirements.

Official entry requirements
Will Work Beach Balance help me with the visa and arrival process?

Yes. Once we know your passport, planned dates and work situation, we help you find the current official information, understand the checklist, provide the accommodation details you need and plan the practical steps around arrival and settling in. If a rule is unclear, we ask rather than invent an answer. Final visa and entry decisions always remain with the Sri Lankan authorities.

Still unsure which process applies to you?

Share your situation in the application. We support you through the practical process and confirm what we do not know before you make a decision.
